SUMMARY:Io sono un architetto. Ettore Sottsass
DESCRIPTION:From Friday\, March 6 to Sunday\, July 26\, 2026\, Palazzo Buontalenti will host a major exhibition dedicated to Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007)\, painter\, graphic designer\, photographer\, and a central figure in 20th-century Italian design and architecture. The exhibition highlights a body of work that spans the entire century with a critical\, disenchanted\, yet deeply sensitive perspective on societal change. \nTitled Io sono un architetto. Ettore Sottsass (I am an architect. Ettore Sottsass)\, the exhibition is built around the extensive collection Sottsass entrusted to CSAC Parma and offers a critical reinterpretation of over thirty years of his work\, from the immediate post-war period to the early 1970s. \nSpecial attention is given to his relationship with Tuscany and the artisanal and industrial realities that developed there: from ceramics created with Aldo Londi in Montelupo Fiorentino to collaborations with Sergio Cammilli and Poltronova in Agliana. \nThrough drawings\, photographs\, ceramics\, objects\, and archival documents\, many presented for the first time\, Io sono un architetto traces the evolution of Sottsass’s thinking\, which\, disillusioned with the society of progress\, sought in form\, color\, and light the possibility of a new humanism in design. \nThe exhibition is curated by Enrico Morteo\, organized by Fondazione Pistoia Musei and Electa\, and realized in collaboration with major archives and research centers\, including CSAC Parma\, Archivio Museo Bitossi\, and Centro Studi Poltronova. \nInfo\nPistoia Musei \nPhoto credit: Corgnati

SUMMARY:OCA – New Exhibition with Arne Quinze
DESCRIPTION:From Saturday\, April 25 to Sunday\, November 1\, 2026\, OCA – Oasy Contemporary Art and Architecture reopens\, a space dedicated to art and architecture located at 900 meters above sea level in the Pistoia Apennines\, within the Oasi Dynamo nature reserve. \nOCA offers an artistic journey immersed in nature\, featuring installations by international artists alongside an exhibition space devoted to art and photography shows. Under the direction of Emanuele Montibeller\, the project has grown over the years\, offering a unique experience in which artworks and landscape engage in dialogue with forests\, clearings\, and ridgelines\, inviting visitors to discover nature not merely as a backdrop\, but as an active interlocutor. \nIn this ever-changing landscape\, the permanent route within the oasis is not conceived as a simple open-air museum or a sculpture park\, but as a unified curatorial project in which each intervention emerges from a dialogue with the site and contributes to redefining its perception. \nSeason 2026 – Arne Quinze\nFor the 2026 season\, OCA welcomes the international presence of Belgian artist Arne Quinze\, presenting Ceramorphia\, an installation set within the natural path\, and the solo exhibition I’m a Gardener\, hosted in the exhibition space. \nCeramorphia establishes a profound dialogue with the landscape of the Pistoia Apennines\, acting as a device for thought that generates a dynamic relationship with the environment without imposing itself or passively adapting to it. The ceramic forms evoke an “other nature” — not a reproduction of the natural world\, but a reconfiguration of it. The work does not represent nature; rather\, it stages its transformation\, inviting reflection on the contemporary relationship between humans and natural systems. \nThe solo exhibition I’m a Gardener\, the artist’s first major show in Italy\, features a selection of paintings and works on canvas exploring the relationship between humans and nature. Marked by chromatic tensions and dynamic layering\, the pictorial surfaces do not depict the landscape but convey its vital energy — shaped by growth\, collision\, and metamorphosis. \nPainting and installation thus become two expressions of the same creative core: an exploration of life’s generative force and the need to restore balance and diversity within human-inhabited spaces. \nThe exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue published by Metilene. \nPhoto credit: Nicola Neri\nThe Path within the Reserve\nWith the addition of Ceramorphia by Arne Quinze\, OCA’s route is further enriched\, confirming the project’s dynamic and ever-evolving nature. \nUnder the artistic direction of Emanuele Montibeller\, the forest path unfolds as an ongoing dialogue between art\, architecture\, and landscape\, featuring interventions by some of the most important contemporary architects and artists\, including Alejandro Aravena\, Mariangela Gualtieri and Michele De Lucchi\, Kengo Kuma\, Davide Quayola\, David Svensson\, Pascale Marthine Tayou\, and Matteo Thun. \nOver the summer\, the project will expand with new works: Vanishing Horizon by the collective fuse*\, a corten steel installation exploring the boundary between the visible and the invisible\, and Deus Sive Natura – What I Believe by Stefano Boeri\, a ten-meter-long Carrara marble kneeler inviting contemplation of the landscape as a form of secular spirituality. \nDetails\nOCA will be open from April 25 to November 1\, 2026\, from Thursday to Sunday\, 10 AM to 5 PM.\nIn August\, it will also be open on Wednesdays\, with the same hours. \nAdmission to the exhibition is free\, while the guided park route costs €20 (free for children up to 10 years old) and is available by reservation only\, at times listed on the website. \nAt the reserve’s Visitor Center\, the Casa Luigi bistro restaurant will be open by reservation\, offering high-quality cuisine. Visitors are also welcome to relax freely in the outdoor areas and on the lawn. \nInfo\nOCA – Oasy Contemporary Art and Architecture  \nPhoto credit: Mattia Marasco
