SUMMARY:Io sono un architetto. Ettore Sottsass
DESCRIPTION:From Friday\, March 6 to Sunday\, July 26\, 2026\, Palazzo Buontalenti will host a major exhibition dedicated to Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007)\, painter\, graphic designer\, photographer\, and a central figure in 20th-century Italian design and architecture. The exhibition highlights a body of work that spans the entire century with a critical\, disenchanted\, yet deeply sensitive perspective on societal change. \nTitled Io sono un architetto. Ettore Sottsass (I am an architect. Ettore Sottsass)\, the exhibition is built around the extensive collection Sottsass entrusted to CSAC Parma and offers a critical reinterpretation of over thirty years of his work\, from the immediate post-war period to the early 1970s. \nSpecial attention is given to his relationship with Tuscany and the artisanal and industrial realities that developed there: from ceramics created with Aldo Londi in Montelupo Fiorentino to collaborations with Sergio Cammilli and Poltronova in Agliana. \nThrough drawings\, photographs\, ceramics\, objects\, and archival documents\, many presented for the first time\, Io sono un architetto traces the evolution of Sottsass’s thinking\, which\, disillusioned with the society of progress\, sought in form\, color\, and light the possibility of a new humanism in design. \nThe exhibition is curated by Enrico Morteo\, organized by Fondazione Pistoia Musei and Electa\, and realized in collaboration with major archives and research centers\, including CSAC Parma\, Archivio Museo Bitossi\, and Centro Studi Poltronova. \nInfo\nPistoia Musei \nPhoto credit: Corgnati

SUMMARY:OCA – New Exhibition with Arne Quinze
DESCRIPTION:From Saturday\, April 25 to Sunday\, November 1\, 2026\, OCA – Oasy Contemporary Art and Architecture reopens\, a space dedicated to art and architecture located at 900 meters above sea level in the Pistoia Apennines\, within the Oasi Dynamo nature reserve. \nOCA offers an artistic journey immersed in nature\, featuring installations by international artists alongside an exhibition space devoted to art and photography shows. Under the direction of Emanuele Montibeller\, the project has grown over the years\, offering a unique experience in which artworks and landscape engage in dialogue with forests\, clearings\, and ridgelines\, inviting visitors to discover nature not merely as a backdrop\, but as an active interlocutor. \nIn this ever-changing landscape\, the permanent route within the oasis is not conceived as a simple open-air museum or a sculpture park\, but as a unified curatorial project in which each intervention emerges from a dialogue with the site and contributes to redefining its perception. \nSeason 2026 – Arne Quinze\nFor the 2026 season\, OCA welcomes the international presence of Belgian artist Arne Quinze\, presenting Ceramorphia\, an installation set within the natural path\, and the solo exhibition I’m a Gardener\, hosted in the exhibition space. \nCeramorphia establishes a profound dialogue with the landscape of the Pistoia Apennines\, acting as a device for thought that generates a dynamic relationship with the environment without imposing itself or passively adapting to it. The ceramic forms evoke an “other nature” — not a reproduction of the natural world\, but a reconfiguration of it. The work does not represent nature; rather\, it stages its transformation\, inviting reflection on the contemporary relationship between humans and natural systems. \nThe solo exhibition I’m a Gardener\, the artist’s first major show in Italy\, features a selection of paintings and works on canvas exploring the relationship between humans and nature. Marked by chromatic tensions and dynamic layering\, the pictorial surfaces do not depict the landscape but convey its vital energy — shaped by growth\, collision\, and metamorphosis. \nPainting and installation thus become two expressions of the same creative core: an exploration of life’s generative force and the need to restore balance and diversity within human-inhabited spaces. \nThe exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue published by Metilene. \nPhoto credit: Nicola Neri\nThe Path within the Reserve\nWith the addition of Ceramorphia by Arne Quinze\, OCA’s route is further enriched\, confirming the project’s dynamic and ever-evolving nature. \nUnder the artistic direction of Emanuele Montibeller\, the forest path unfolds as an ongoing dialogue between art\, architecture\, and landscape\, featuring interventions by some of the most important contemporary architects and artists\, including Alejandro Aravena\, Mariangela Gualtieri and Michele De Lucchi\, Kengo Kuma\, Davide Quayola\, David Svensson\, Pascale Marthine Tayou\, and Matteo Thun. \nOver the summer\, the project will expand with new works: Vanishing Horizon by the collective fuse*\, a corten steel installation exploring the boundary between the visible and the invisible\, and Deus Sive Natura – What I Believe by Stefano Boeri\, a ten-meter-long Carrara marble kneeler inviting contemplation of the landscape as a form of secular spirituality. \nDetails\nOCA will be open from April 25 to November 1\, 2026\, from Thursday to Sunday\, 10 AM to 5 PM.\nIn August\, it will also be open on Wednesdays\, with the same hours. \nAdmission to the exhibition is free\, while the guided park route costs €20 (free for children up to 10 years old) and is available by reservation only\, at times listed on the website. \nAt the reserve’s Visitor Center\, the Casa Luigi bistro restaurant will be open by reservation\, offering high-quality cuisine. Visitors are also welcome to relax freely in the outdoor areas and on the lawn. \nInfo\nOCA – Oasy Contemporary Art and Architecture  \nPhoto credit: Mattia Marasco

SUMMARY:Pistoia Blues Festival 2026 - Fantastic Negrito and Eric Steckel
DESCRIPTION:As part of the programme of the 45th edition of the Pistoia Blues Festival 2026\, a night dedicated to great international blues. \nOn Saturday\, 4 July 2026\, in Piazza del Duomo\, during one of only two summer dates scheduled in Italy\, Fantastic Negrito will perform for the very first time on the Pistoia Blues stage with his band. \nFantastic Negrito\, the stage name of American guitarist Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz\, is one of the most authentic and powerful voices in today’s music scene. After a career marked by setbacks and rebirths\, he has developed a distinctive style blending blues\, rock\, funk\, soul and African-American roots. Over the course of his career\, he has won three consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Blues Album with The Last Days of Oakland (2016)\, Please Don’t Be Dead (2018) and Have You Lost Your Mind Yet? (2020). \nHis latest release\, Son of a Broken Man (October 2024\, Storefront Records)\, is a deeply autobiographical work\, exploring the father-son relationship\, inner conflict and the search for identity. The album was introduced by the single Undefeated Eyes\, featuring Sting\, and moves between moments of raw vulnerability and powerful rhythmic bursts\, confirming the artist’s strong narrative and sonic identity. Virgin Radio is the official radio partner for Fantastic Negrito’s Italian dates. \nIf you want\, I can also adapt this to a shorter press release or a promotional blurb. \nEric Steckel. Photo credit: Jaap Hubert\nOn the same night\, Eric Steckel will also take the stage\, widely regarded as one of the brightest stars of contemporary blues. Born in 1990\, Steckel is an American singer\, guitarist\, songwriter and record producer. \nHe has released 12 albums and toured extensively worldwide\, sharing the stage with artists such as Steve Vai\, Gregg Allman\, Johnny Winter\, John Mayall\, Ray Charles\, Larry Carlton\, Robben Ford\, among many others. In March 2024\, he was ranked No. 55 on Total Guitar magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time”\, while in 2021 Guitar Player named him one of the “10 Future Stars of the Blues”. \nClick here to discover the full program of the 45th edition of the Pistoia Blues Festival. \nDetails\nTickets available via Ticketone\, Ticketmaster\, Vivaticket and at authorised local ticket outlets. \nInfo\nPistoia Blues

SUMMARY:Enrico Brignano - Bello di mamma!
DESCRIPTION:A new event enriches the summer in Pistoia: on Monday\, July 6\, 2026\, Enrico Brignano will take the stage in Piazza del Duomo with his new show Bello di mamma! \nBello di mamma! explores\, with irony and lightness\, our fears\, changing times\, and the sense of confusion and fragility that often surrounds us. With a unique intimacy\, Brignano engages the audience by reflecting on how the figure of the mother can become a key to facing today’s challenges. Moving between past memories and present reflections\, he imagines how a mother might respond to the “modern absurdities” that overwhelm us. \nAt the heart of the show—written by Brignano together with Graziano Cutrona\, Manuela D’Angelo\, Luciano Federico\, and Alessio Parenti—is a simple yet powerful idea: in a fast-changing world full of contradictions and constant demands\, everyone\, sooner or later\, feels the need to return to that primordial embrace that once made us feel safe as children. \nFrom this starting point\, Brignano broadens his perspective to the present day: an era where alarming news\, pervasive technology\, and relentless rhythms coexist with nostalgia for a time when everything seemed clearer. Global challenges—from wars to artificial intelligence and the contradictions of the ecological transition—become both subjects for reflection and material for comedy. \nThe real challenge\, however\, is finding an antidote: emotional balance amid the chaos. This is where Brignano’s most authentic language emerges: a style of humor that can be sharp or gentle\, ironic or melancholic\, but always sincere and capable of bringing order to the disorder of contemporary life. \nBello di mamma! is both a return to the roots of the one-man show and a step forward in Brignano’s storytelling: a personal narrative that becomes collective\, speaking to the audience through shared emotions\, recognizable fragilities\, and a humor that never loses its tenderness. Brignano will be accompanied on stage by a ten-piece orchestra and two backing vocalists. \nThe event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Pistoia\, the Bluesin Association\, and LEG Live Emotion Group.\nThe concert is part of the special events included in the Pistoia Blues Festival 2026 program. \nDetails\nTickets are available online via Ticketone\, Ticketmaster\, and at authorized local outlets.

SUMMARY:Pistoia Blues Festival 2026 - Claudio Baglioni - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Claudio Baglioni is the first major name announced for the Pistoia Blues Festival 2026\, Storytellers section\, the showcase dedicated to Italian singer-songwriters. \nOn Tuesday\, 7 July 2026\, the evocative Piazza Duomo in Pistoia will host GrandTour – La vita è adesso\, the live musical project celebrating the 40th anniversary of the album La vita è adesso\, il sogno è sempre. For Baglioni\, this marks an important return to the Pistoia stage\, 15 years after his last tour. \nGrandTour – La vita è adesso promises a unique experience\, inspired by the spirit of the Grand Tours: the long educational journeys that\, starting in the 18th century\, artists\, intellectuals\, and young aristocrats undertook to broaden their cultural horizons. The art cities across Italy became essential stops for understanding the roots of European civilization and drawing inspiration from their grandeur. \nIn this Grand Tour\, Claudio Baglioni – accompanied by a 20-piece ensemble of musicians and choristers\, who recorded the new edition of La vita è adesso\, il sogno è sempre in the studio – will perform the album in its entirety for the first time\, alongside the greatest hits that have marked his 60-year career\, true milestones of Italian popular culture. \n \nSony Music Italy has released a unique discographic project\, available from 6 June on double gatefold vinyl\, in four different CD formats\, and digitally in Dolby Atmos. The remake of La vita è adesso\, il sogno è sempre è sempre reinterprets eleven tracks with contemporary sounds and styles\, while preserving the original essence and artistic intent. Each track was re-recorded and sung live in the studio\, with all musicians and vocalists present simultaneously\, creating a direct narrative connection between the original project and today’s vision. \nThe event is promoted by the Comune di Pistoia\, Associazione Bluesin\, and LEG Live Emotion Group.\nThis event is part of the Storytellers – Songwriters’ Series\, included in the Pistoia Blues Festival 2026 program. \nTickets\nThe concert is sold out. \nInfo\nPistoia Blues \nPhoto credit: Toni Thorimbert

SUMMARY:The Clothing of Saint James
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, July 16\, 2025\, Pistoia will host the traditional vesting of the statue of Saint James (or Jacopo)\, located on the right side of the façade of the Cathedral of San Zeno. For the occasion\, a historical parade will wind through the streets of the city center. \nThe color red evokes the martyrdom of Saint James\, while the cloak refers to a curious local legend that depicts him as an insolvent debtor\, who allegedly promised to pay his creditors when it became “very hot.” By July\, he was found wearing a heavy cloak to show that the heat had not yet arrived. \nWhy this tradition?
