This extremely famous text, written by Dario Fo and Franca Rame together, is being directed by Alessandro Tedeschi (of the in-vogue group, Carrozzeria Orfeo) with Chiara Francini and Alessandro Federico who are known to work well together. The play – which was an enormous success in the 1980’s in Italy – was equally successful abroad: in Germany, it was staged in 30 theatres, all at the same time. It is about male psychology and its relative intolerance to the idea of monogamy: a classic, typically Italian, tragicomic play about a married couple – activists in the 1968 period – and the transformation of the civic conscience in Italy where the bourgeois marriage is seen in the light of legal reforms developed in the 1970’s and the deep changes in the notion of the family.
