A traditional guest of the Pistoia Theatres, the ORT returns – the Orchestra of Tuscany with its Director and Guest, Nil Venditti. Francesca Dego with her exquisite violin skills will be playing the piece that is considered by many to be one of the most wonderful concerts for the violin and orchestra: Concert op. 64 in E Minor by Felix Mendelssohn.
The concert’s second part is dedicated to Igor Stravinskij, who, when talking about his ‘Pulcinella’, based on music by Pergolesi and other Baroque composers, said “it was my discovery of the past (…), a glance backwards, the first of many love stories in that direction”.
This concert Suite taken from the ballet is the quintessence of Neoclassical Stravinskij, with its brilliant game of metamorphosis that allowed him to maintain unchanged the melodic lines of the original pieces, cleverly distorting, in a unique manner, all its other parameters.
