Painting\, hosted on the second floor of the Museum of the Twentieth Century and Contemporary Art at Palazzo Fabroni\, and Two Pistoian Portraits by Giovanni da San Giovanni\, on display at the Civic Museum of Ancient Art in the Town Hall. Both exhibitions will be open until September 27th\, 2026. \nPistoia Underground\nPistoia Underground will remain regularly open\, offering guided tours at 10:15 a.m.\, 11:30 a.m.\, 3 p.m.\, and 4:30 p.m. Advance booking is recommended. \nThis is a unique opportunity to discover the longest underground route in Tuscany\, learn about the history of the ancient Ceppo Hospital\, and uncover the events that led to the burial of the Brana River. \nPistoia Musei\nPhoto credit: Ela Bialkowska OKNOstudio\nOn Monday\, June 1st\, and Tuesday\, June 2nd\, all venues of Pistoia Musei will be open continuously from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. — an ideal opportunity to discover the Museum of the Ancient Bishops’ Palace\, the Museum of San Salvatore\, and the Twentieth Century Collections at Palazzo de’ Rossi. \nVisitors will also be able to explore Palazzo Buontalenti\, home to the exhibition I Am an Architect. Ettore Sottsass\, dedicated to Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007)\, a leading figure in twentieth-century Italian design and architecture. The exhibition traces his artistic research across painting\, graphic design\, and photography\, offering a critical and sensitive взгляд on the profound transformations of contemporary society. \nChurch Openings\nOn Tuesday\, June 2nd\, the Church of Sant’Andrea will remain open during its usual hours\, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Church of San Jacopo in Castellare will also be open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. \nThe Cathedral of San Zeno will follow its regular opening hours as well: from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Baptistery\, however\, will remain closed. \nClick here to discover the opening hours of Pistoia’s churches. \n  \nSan Marcello Piteglio\nEcomuseo della Montagna Pistoiese\n \nSpread across the area\, the Ecomuseum of the Pistoia Mountains invites visitors on a journey through traditions\, history\, and nature. \nOn Tuesday\, June 2nd\, 2026\, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.\, visitors will be able to explore the Chestnut and Charcoal Trail in Orsigna\, the Museum of the People of the Pistoia Apennines in Rivoreta\, the Naturalistic and Archaeological Museum of the Pistoia Apennines in Gavinana\, and the Madonnina Ice House in Le Piastre. \nIn addition\, Palazzo Achilli in Gavinana\, home to the exhibition The Ingenuity of the Mountains\, will also be open in the morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.\, in addition to the usual afternoon opening hours. Admission to all sites is by voluntary donation\, with no reservation required. \nTo visit the Chestnut and Charcoal Trail in Orsigna\, participants should meet the guide at 3 p.m. at the Ecomuseum information point; for later visits\, the guide will still be present along the route. The Madonnina Ice House in Le Piastre can be visited by meeting the guide directly on site. In the event of bad weather\, both sites will remain closed. \nFerrucciano Museum of Gavinana\nOn Tuesday\, June 2nd\, the Ferrucciano Museum (MuFer) in Gavinana will exceptionally be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. \nThe museum pays tribute to Francesco Ferrucci\, the courageous commander of the Florentine Republic who\, on August 3rd\, 1530\, fought in the Pistoia Mountains against the imperial troops of Charles V\, then allied with the Medici during the war against Florence. \nClick here to learn more. \nPhoto credit: Nicola Neri
