The Pistoia Blues Festival is coming back to town from 7th to 16th July 2022 with famous international artists, side events, a street market and all that one of the oldest Italian music festivals – this will be its 41st edition – can offer.
The excitement of an important international music festival returns to the Piazza Duomo with the Simple Minds (15th July), the historical, Scottish, new wave pop group known for literally dozens of hits, Paolo Nutini (16th July), the long-anticipated English singer-songwriter who will be returning to the stage after a 7-year break, and Warren Haynes’ Gov’t Mule (9th July), once a member of the Allman Brothers Band, one of the immortal names of southern rock.
The Swedish singer-songwriter The Tallest Man on Earth (7th July) will perform on another evening of wonderful music with his intimate concert in the Fortezza Santa Barbara, something definitely not to be missed.
Due to its success over the years, the section Storytellers – Suoni d’autore will be coming back, dedicated to music for connoisseurs and to new sounds.
And there is even more… in this new show, launched in 2020 thanks to the historical Pistoia festival, a careful selection has been made of the very best of Italian artists ranging over diverse generations, with the performance of two extremely successful Italian singers: Elisa (10th July) and Manuel Agnelli (12th July), as well as two unmissable leading figures of the “Italian new wave”: Willie Peyote (13th July), a hugely talented rapper from Turin, and Ariete (14th July), a young up-and-coming promise and a symbol of the Z generation who has just come out with her first CD following on after a whole load of successful singles.
Opening up the event will be a blues evening called Sweet Home Pistoia, (8th July) just like the book: a book which goes through the Festival’s 40 editions and which will be honoured by some of the key players of its history. This will be a way to celebrate the historical and cultural roots in the music market’s continual evolution. The evening will explore different styles of blues with live performances and will have at its very centre the event’s unique history, told by means of archive images and by the words of experts.
