Surrounded by dense chestnut groves, it dominates the hill between the Vincio and Nievole river valleys, in an area with great natural beauty.

Nearby are Panicagliora, Avaglio, Femminamorta, Momigno, Montagnana, Casore del Monte, and the splendid Serra Pistoiese, an important example of medieval town planning. Old mule tracks connect Serra to nearby villages, offering unique hiking trails.

Not to be missed: the village is perched around the Church of San Niccolò. Rising between Serra and Panicagliora are the picturesque ruins of the Romanesque Parish Church of Sant’Andrea di Furfalo, which was mentioned in the 998 Diploma of Otto III.
