Porrettana Railway

Lagacci. The Village of Proverbs
On the right side of the Reno Valley, on the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, lies Lagacci, a small village situated 710 metres above sea level and surrounded by lush woodland.
As you walk among the houses, you’ll notice numerous signs displaying proverbs and sayings, words of advice or gentle warnings for passersby. This playful tradition evokes memories of times past and, sign after sign, weaves a thread of collective memory that, in this borderland, remains proudly alive in the daily life of its inhabitants.

Pracchia

stage 3
Pracchia
Pracchia is a mountain hamlet in the municipality of Pistoia, nestled in a narrow, deep valley crossed by the Reno River.
The village’s history and development have always been closely linked to agriculture and pastoralism, to the production of natural ice, and to ironworking—traditional activities of the Pistoiese Mountains, and, above all, to the construction of the Porrettana Railway, the first trans, Apennine railway line.
